Hans Sigmund was a Untersturmführer (Second Lieutenant) in the Waffen SS during World War II who was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross, which was awarded to recognize extreme battlefield bravery or successful military leadership by Nazi Germany during World War II.

Hans Sigmund was awarded the Knight's Cross on 5 April 1945 while an Oberscharführer (Staff Sergeant) and platoon commander in the 11th Company, 9th SS Panzer Grenadier Regiment Germania.[1][2]
